It’s great when you get on with people in your yoga class or go to yoga with a friend, so you can chat to them while you wait for the class to start. There is a benefit, however, to sitting quietly before the class starts. It means that you are able to tap into the aura of the group and be present in whatever level the group and you are vibrating at. It allows you to focus on your breath and begin to calm the mind, ready to bring yourself into your practice. It also creates a sacred space and ritual in which genuine change can occur.

So if you are usually a talker before a yoga class – next time try to sit or lie down quietly. Focus on your breathing. Ground yourself in your body & in your breath.

Then see whether it has any impact on your yoga practice.
