Your mind is a powerful thing. You are having literally thousands of thoughts every day that contribute to how you act and feel. It makes sense to direct those thoughts down a pathway that leads you towards the life you want to live.
I’m generally quite a calm person, but I wasn’t always. I used to worry lot more than I do now, even about things that I couldn’t control or do anything about.
I attribute this to 2 things. The first is that I have a very practical system for getting things done + goal-setting that enables me to let go of things I can’t control. The second is my spiritual practice, which for the last few years has centred around kundalini yoga.
I’m strongly of the opinion that the more effective time you put into something, the more you get out of it. It’s interesting that we generally put in a lot of effort into things like our careers, our diets or even our social calendar – but not necessarily effort into growth + love.
The way I see it is that our relationship of love towards ourselves + towards others is one of the key pleasures (+ pains) we have in this life. Most things that are such a big part of our lives, need work. So our relationship of live towards ourselves + towards others, needs work.
I thought I’d celebrate the month of Valentines in a slightly different way this year. I’m running a 29 day love yourself + love others challenge where we do something good for ourselves + something good for another person every day of February.
You may do this already, in which case it will just bring it more into your awareness so you can experience the positive aspects + experience gratitude + love for your acts
As you all know I love love love personal development so I’m always reading papers + articles to help me improve myself + others (check out my Happiness Library if you want to get involved more deeply in my approach to personal development) . I just wanted to share 2 quick tips for you from the reading I’ve been doing recently.
They might seem obviously but ask yourself if you are doing them.
It’s a new year so time to check in with our habits + see what should stay + what should go.
Over the last few years I’ve crafted these 12 habits + activities that bring joy into my life. There’s nothing magical about them. They’re just things I do that bring happiness into my life in one way or another. The key is that I’ve spent the last few years fine-tuning them and sifting out what works and doesn’t work. Today I thought I’d share them with you.
At the end of every year I go through a process of review of what has worked, what hasn’t, what needs to go + what needs to stay in my life for me to continue to evolve into the person I want to be + am capable of being.
Here are the key things I did in 2015 that I will be carrying with me into 2016 + the new habits I want to create in 2016.
Dear starry souls,
I hope your hearts are full of merriment
I hope whatever you believe, whether it’s in a being or magic or nothing
that you have some space + time to carry joy in your heart
I hope the next few days are full of love + Christmas lights
Dearest beautiful petals, It's that time of year where we start to reflect on what we've achieved + look gently towards 2016. I thought I'd get a little personal in this post + share what I've achieved in 2015 + how I got there. I invite you to take some time to do...
Dearest gorgeous ones, When we are going through the tough times it can be really hard to believe this, but the universe only gives you what you can handle. Those difficult patches in life that you've come through - how have they made you more human? How have they...
